Updated: Feb 24

LAFAYETTE, La. (ENN) -- Officers with the Lafayette Police Department are investigating a single-vehicle crash that led to a fire, officials say.

Authorities said the vehicle was stolen by the driver from a family member before crashing and abandoning the vehicle. The driver then later showed up to a local hospital to treat injuries from the accident.

Officials identified the suspect as Connor Chaney, 37, of Lafayette and have issued warrants for his arrest.

Reportedly, the driver struck a pole. Immediately after, the vehicle caught on fire on Pandora Street in Lafayette Friday evening. As stated, the driver abandoned the vehicle as a result of the fire.

Authorities said no injuries have been reported at this time. This remains under investigation.
