“Suspicious package” found at Women’s & Children’s Hospital: report

UPDATE: Police say the scene has been cleared and made safe. The parking lot area is cleared and the hospital has resumed normal functions. This incident remains under investigation.


On Saturday, police arrested Albert Romero, 38, of Lafayette, LA, in reference to this incident. Albert Romero has been charged with one count of terrorizing and has been booked into LPCC.



LAFAYETTE, La. (ENN) — Police are investigating a “suspicious package” that was found at Our Lady of Lourdes Women & Children’s Hospital on Friday evening.


The Lafayette Fire Department’s hazmat team, Lafayette Police Department and State Police are seen at the location.


“At the moment proper protocol is being followed to ensure public safety. Once the scene is cleared and made safe and update shall be provided,” police said. They also stated that a crime scene has been established.


The hospital is on lockdown at this time out of an abundance of caution.
