Rayne High lockdown lifted; police verify no active threat

Rayne Police received a call at 9:58am Thursday morning, reporting an "active shooter" at Rayne High School.


Officers quickly responded to the school, and the school enforced a hard lockdown. Each room in the school was searched by police, and deputies were able to verify that there was no active threat. The scene was officially cleared and the lockdown was lifted around 10:40am.


Police are investigating this incident as a felony terrorizing offense. If convicted, the offender could face up to 15 years of jail time. If you have any information regarding this incident, contact the Rayne Police Department.
