Multiple fire agencies respond to house fire in Lafayette Parish early Saturday morning

Scott Fire Department, along with Carencro and Duson,  responded to a residential fire early Saturday morning. The fire was in the 1400 block of LA Hwy 93 just before 1am Saturday morning.

The fire was reported after a driver passing the house saw the fire. According to Scott Fire Department Chief Chad Sonnier, three people were inside the home when the fire broke out and were woken by the driver’s honking. The 3 individuals escaped the house through a bedroom window. One of the 3 house residents suffered a glass cut to their foot.

The fire broke out after winds reignited coals that were used on a charcoal grill hours before the fire. The coals spread to the house porch and inside the home.

No fire fighters were injured.
