(EVEN NEWS)- Multiple agencies were involved in a high-speed vehicle pursuit today that began in Carencro. Lafayette Sheriff's Office, Carencro Police, Eunice Police, Duson Police and the Acadia Parish Sherrif's Office were the agencies involved in the pursuit.
The pursuit was seen throughout various towns, including Carencro, Duson, Mire, Church Point, and near Eunice.
Officials tell EVEN News that one Duson Police unit was involved in a single-vehicle crash as a result of the vehicle pursuit, which took place just a few minutes prior to gunshots being fired towards the driver of the vehicle by Eunice Police. State Police are investigating that matter.
The suspect was already wanted under 5 felony charges prior to the pursuit. The pursuit ended south of Eunice.
The suspect is currently in the hospital but expected to be released soon, and he will then be booked in the Lafayette Parish Jail. The identity of the suspect and his/her charges have no been released at this time, however, Duson Police said that they will be adding additional charges in the coming days.
Witnesses told EVEN News that it appeared to be a Dodge vehicle that the police were chasing, however, that has not been confirmed.
