Fire fighters respond to major vehicle fire in Duson

DUSON, La. (ENN) — A vehicle caught on fire while at the I-10 Travel Center in the 200 block of Austria Road in Duson, LA.

At 10:52 AM is when Duson Fire Fighters received the call regarding the vehicle fire. Upon arrival, fire fighters found a 2016 Ford F-150 pickup truck fully engulfed, the vehicle was under the metal covering near the fuel pumps with heat and smoke causing damage to the structure but the firefighters successfully extinguished the vehicle saving the structure.

Lafayette Fire Hazardous Materials unit also responded to the scene due to the proximity of the burning vehicle to fuel pumps.

Chief Duhon commended the efforts of his department “with the proper personnel and response time only a vehicle was lost today, no injuries were recorded and there was minimal structure damage”, Duhon said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
