Updated: Sep 6, 2022

Duson – On August 31, 2022 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 95 at the intersection of the westbound on-ramp of Interstate 10 in Acadia Parish. The crash claimed the life of 17-year-old Nathan L. LeBlanc of Duson.

The initial investigation revealed a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, being driven by LeBlanc, was traveling south on LA 95. At the same time a 2012 GMC Yukon, driven by Mary Batiste of Jennings, was headed north on LA 95. Batiste entered into the path of the motorcycle as she turned left to the westbound on-ramp of I-10. The motorcycle struck the right side of the Yukon in the southbound lane of LA 95.

Despite wearing a DOT approved helmet, LeBlanc suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Batiste was properly restrained and reported minor injuries. She submitted a breath sample which showed no alcohol in her system and voluntarily submitted a blood sample for testing.

A blood sample from LeBlanc was also submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
