US Marshals arrest one man in connection to a shooting in Lafayette in November

Lafayette, LA – On Thursday, United States Marshall Service Violent Offender Task Force (USMS VOTF) along with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Gregory Jones Jr. 28.

Jones had an active arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.  Jones’ warrant stemmed from an shooting that occurred on 11/07/22.  Jones was taken into custody and booked into Iberia Parish Jail where he will be transported to Lafayette on a later date.

The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of North Pierce Street.  Two masked men wearing all black made entry into the residence and held the occupants at gunpoint.  A struggle ensued between one of the male occupants of the residence which resulted with the occupant being shot. The suspects, including Jones, then fled the residence with miscellaneous items on foot.  The victim, a 30-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
