Updated: Mar 5

UPDATE: Police say today, Michael Brumley, 30, of Scott, was arrested in connection to this incident. Upon his release from a local hospital, Brumley was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on the following charges:

LRS 14:37.2-- Aggravated assault upon a peace officer--(Felony) (2 counts)

SCOTT, La. (ENN) -- An officer-involved shooting occurred in Scott within the nighttime hours of Saturday into Sunday morning.

The shooting occurred after officers responded to the 100 block of Angler Drive, off of Landry Road, due to being dispatched to a domestic dispute. Officers say that after their arrival, a man was armed with a knife; forcing an officer to attempt to tase him.

Because the tase deployment was ineffective, a second officer fired his duty weapon, striking the male suspect.

The suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment, police say. No officers were harmed during this incident, and police say the suspect's injuries were non-life threatening.
