Police investigating bomb threat at Comeaux High


Lafayette, LA – On January 5, 2023, at approximately 8:14 a.m., Comeaux High School Administration received a phone call from an unknown male threatening to blow up the school.

Lafayette Police School Resource Officers were notified and safety protocols were immediately enacted to protect all students and faculty.


All students and faculty were then escorted and moved to a safe location away from the school, as officers and additional personnel from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and ULL Police Department arrivedto assist.


A protective sweep and search of the entire school was conducted utilizing a bomb sniffing canine, where no device or threat was located. Upon concluding the search of the school, the entire campus was deemed safe and students were escorted back to the school to resume their daily activities.



According to the Lafayette Parish School System, Comeaux High School has transitioned to a ‘shelter in place status while the campus resumes daily activities and students are served lunch. Visitors will not be able to enter or leave campus during this time.’ As more information becomes available, an update will be provided.
