Pizza Hut in Lafayette “heavily damaged” by overnight fire

LAFAYETTE, La. (ENN) - Pizza Hut on Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette caught fire early Sunday morning, fire officials say; leaving the business heavily damaged.

According to the Lafayette Fire Department, the fire at 4404 Ambassador Caffery was first reported around 1:30 a.m. Firefighters said they arrived on the scene to find flames shooting through the roof. They say it took about 30 minutes to get it under control.

Fire crews said they were called to the same Pizza Hut by employees around 9:14 p.m. because of smoke coming from air conditioning vents. They stated that the HVAC system was examined, the power was turned off to one of the units, and the restaurant was cleared.
