One woman killed in fatal hit-and-run incident in Duson; man arrested

DUSON, LA (EVEN) - One woman has died on Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle in Duson, according to police.

Crystal Dogay, 39, of Rayne was traveling on a bicycle when she was struck by a vehicle, resulting in her death, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Toby Mouton Rd. around 8:30pm on Sunday evening. Dogay was hit by the vehicle and then the driver of the vehicle fled the scene after. Police are now investigating this incident as a hit-and-run.

On Monday, police arrested Jacob Privat, 34, in connection to the incident. He was charged with felony hit-and-run involving a death, according to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Jades System, Privat's bond was $60,000. The online status shows that he is not in jail.
