One injured in officer-involved shooting in Lafayette early Monday morning

Lafayette, LA – Around 12:21 am on Monday, Lafayette Police responded to shots fired in the 100 block of Guilbeau Road. 


At the time of the incident, officers that were in the area observed a vehicle drive by at a high rate of speed.  The officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle refused to stop.  The vehicle continued on with officers following behind it.


When the vehicle arrived in the 400 block of Marilyn Street, the two occupants jumped out of the vehicle and continued to evade officers on foot.  K-9 Officers were able to track one of the suspects. During the course of police interactions with the suspect, a male sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The officer was not injured.


One victim was located in the area of where the originating incident occurred suffering from a single gunshot wound.  That victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition.
