One dead following a vehicle crash on E. Pinhook Road

Lafayette Police responded to a fatal crash that occurred during the early morning hours of January 12.

The crash occurred as a result of a vehicle traveling eastbound on E. Pinhook Road near the 1800 block. The operator of the vehicle was traveling at an undetermined rate of speed and struck the cement curb located in front of 1800 E. Pinhook Road and began to travel off the roadway. The vehicle continued through several yards before coming to rest after striking a tree.

The operator of the vehicle died as a result of his injuries sustained from the accident. He has been identified as Jmarius Charles (30) of Lafayette, LA.Traffic investigators are handling the crash and the investigation is ongoing.
