Local school districts in Acadiana are planning to close due to the potential for “dangerous” weather impacts from Tropical Storm Francine.
LAFAYETTE PARISH:
UPDATE: All LPSS schools will now be closed all day Tuesday and will be closed on Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12.
“Given changes to the forecast timing and slight shift in the track of Tropical Storm Francine, all LPSS public schools and the entire system will be closed on Tuesday. Information shared during a call with the National Weather Service at 4:45 Monday afternoon prompted the decision to close on Tuesday.”
ACADIA PARISH:
UPDATE: All Acadia Parish public schools will now be closed all day on Tuesday and will be closed all day on Wednesday, September 11. The school system says an update regarding Thursday will come Wednesday evening.
ST. LANDRY PARISH:
All St. Landry Parish public schools will dismiss early on Tuesday and will be closed on Wednesday, September 11.
VERMILION PARISH:
All Vermilion Parish public schools will be closed Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11.
ST. MARTIN PARISH:
All St. Martin Parish public schools will dismiss at 12:00pm on Tuesday and will be closed all day on Wednesday, September 11. The district says there is a strong possibility of the schools being closed on Thursday, however, they will decide later this week.
ST. MARY PARISH:
All St. Mary Parish public schools will be closed on Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11. A decision will be made later this week regarding Thursday.
JEFF DAVIS PARISH:
All Jeff Davis Parish public schools will be closed Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11.
IBERIA PARISH:
All Iberia Parish public schools will be closed Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11.
CALCASIEU PARISH:
Calcasieu Parish School Board says all public schools in Calcasieu Parish will be closed all day Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11.
DIOCESE OF LAFAYETTE:
Diocese schools will dismiss early Tuesday and be closed on Wednesday, September 11.
