2 shot in shooting in Rayne on Friday evening

RAYNE, La (EVEN) - Two people have been shot in a shooting in the 500 block of North Chevis Street in Rayne on Friday evening.

Police were called to the scene after receiving a call of gunshots in the area. Responding officers located a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported via Helicopter to a Lafayette General Hospital.

Rayne Police were then notified at 9:14 PM that another victim with a gunshot wound was driven to Ochsner Acadia Hospital in Crowley by a citizen.

Detectives are still on the scene and the investigation is on going.

Gunshots were heard near N Arenas St. in Rayne on Friday evening, according to multiple posts on Facebook.

A source tells EVEN News that shots were fired "2 blocks from Trahan's," and that not long after, an airmed was seen landing in a field near Curtis Drive.

None of this information has been confirmed by authorities, however, many posts on Facebook are consistent with the details. We will post updates once we receive a confirmation from police.
