CANKTON, La. (ENN) — Authorities reported that a father of a student at Cankton Elementary School was taken into custody following an altercation with a school supervisor.
On Friday, Cankton Police and St. Landry Sheriff Deputies were called to the campus of Cankton Elementary School regarding a altercation between a parent and an administration.
According to the police, the administrator who was not identified on campus was approached by Colby D. Tezeno, 35, of Opelousas, who then physically attacked the administrator.
Authorities stated that they are still looking into what caused the altercation. Chief of Police for Cankton J. Brent Breaux stated that Tezeno was charged with battery of a school official and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail based on video footage that was taken at the site. No information about the bond was disclosed.
“No matter the accusation we can not take matters like these into our own hands,” Breaux said. “Let law enforcement do its job and come to the appropriate conclusion, then take appropriate actions.”
The investigation is still ongoing.
