Numerous people arrested in connection to the June 7 shooting in Church Point



ACADIA PARISH- A shooting that took place on June 7th near Church Point has led to numerous people being charged as part of the incident.


The incident occurred at a local business in the 8800 block of the Church Point Highway. The investigation revealed that several people who were inside the business, exited and had an exchange of words/disturbance. One of the persons involved removed a handgun and began firing at the other person. This led to the person being fired at returning fire at the original shooter.


The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted their investigation and determined that Davante Mikle, 22 years old of Lafayette, fired shots at the other person involved in the incident. While firing his weapon, 4 people were determined to be in harm’s way, leading to Mikle being charged with 4 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant on these charges. Mikle was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.


Two people were determined to have aided Mikle in this incident. Both were charged with 4 counts of Principle to Attempted First Degree Murder. Both individuals were booked on outstanding warrants from this investigation. They are identified as Destron Goodwin, 18 years old of Church Point, and Anna Landry, 34 years old of Crowley. Both were booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.


Another person involved in this incident, identified as Cameron Matte, 18 years old of Scott, was issued a summons for a misdemeanor crime of Illegal Carrying of a Firearm.


The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.
