New information regarding Monday night crash on LA 95 (Mire Hwy)

Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a crash involving a white Chevrolet 1500 (driven by 24 year old Nicholas Micheal of Church Point) and a Harley-Davidson FXD motorcycle.

According to Trooper Thomas Gossen, the public information officer for LA State Police Troop I, said Micheal did not see the Harley-Davidson slowing down to turn into a private driveway, and hit the rear end of the motorcycle with the trucks front bumper. The Harley-Davidson embedded into the bumper of the Chevrolet, and the Chevrolet continued south with the motorcycle into the northbound lane of LA 95 (Mire Hwy)

The motorcycle driver was ejected after impact and had come to rest in the northbound lane of Mire Hwy. He was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash. The crash occurred at 9:32pm.

Micheal was restrained with a minor injury and taken to Rayne Police Department and submitted a breath test (voluntarily) which registered .000g% BAC. The motorcycle driver was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries and blood evidence was obtained and submitted evidence. Micheal was charged with Carless Operation.
