LAFAYETTE PARISH- Duson Police are on the scene of a collision between a train and an RV Camper, which was being pulled by a truck. The crash occurred at North A Street in Duson at the Rail Crossing near Champagne’s Grocery.

According to a release, the train struck the RV, which was stopped on the tracks. The RV was not occupied at the time of the crash, and sustained severe damage.

The investigation is still ongoing, however, it seems as though a silver truck pulling the RV Camper was crossing the railroad tracks when it became stuck on the tracks. The truck driver was able to disengage the camper from the truck and drive to the shoulder of N A Street. Within 3 minutes, a train traveling west collided into the camper. The camper has been “destroyed.”

No injuries have been reported. The matter is fluid and active, as clearing the tracks is the police department’s priority.
